center for urban renewal and education

Mission

Fight poverty and restore dignity through the message of faith, freedom and personal responsibility.

Objective

Build awareness that a conservative agenda of traditional values, limited government and free markets is of the greatest marginal benefit to low-income Americans.

Method

Work in the media, on Capitol Hill and in poor communities to promote social policy that protects unborn life; and market-based public policy that transitions poor Americans from government dependency to economic independence.

POLICY CENTER.

The Policy Center provides testimonies before Congress and educates policy makers with conservative answers on unique areas of urban poverty, federal entitlements, and market-based solutions. We work to create, influence and advocate for policy solutions that directly impact hard-hit communities and for the betterment of their citizens. We gather research to create policy reports and white papers commissioning experienced academics that keenly know the concerns and details of the urban community.

MEDIA CENTER.

We continue to exercise our right to public discourse and free speech by actively participating in today’s media environment by often providing an alternative viewpoint that expresses  the  principles  we  advocate  for implementation. Having  a  voice  in  the  public square  is  fundamental  to  making  an impact. In addition, CURE makes regular appearances on the major television and radio networks that communicate the conservative message to black communities nationwide. Amendment I of the U.S. Constitution states Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibit the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people to peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. We are in an increasingly hostile environment in our country to speak out and preserve these fundamental rights.

CLERGY CENTER.

The National CURE Clergy Network is committed to being known as those who can "fix anything, restore old ruins, rebuild and renovate, and make their communities livible again" (Isaiah 58:12, MSG).

The NCN is a nationwide network of clergy who are asked to become members in this network to expand our impact in urban communities. We work to educate, equip and engage our clergy membership on issues that matter. The growth and advancement of our clergy network continue to allow CURE to have an even greater voice and representative constituency in our Nations Capital and in the halls of government. This network provides a practical way for pastors and clergy to actively engage communities. Regular roundtables and strategy sessions with pastors provide training and identify the issues afflicting their communities. The clergy members within the national network are strong, engaged, educated and collaboratively networked to make a difference in the culture.
