Aceon
Generic Name: Perindopril (per-IN-doe-prill)
Brand name: Aceon
Drug interactions:
Aceon is used for treating high blood pressure. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor. High blood pressure adds to the workload of the heart and arteries. If it continues for a long time, the heart and arteries may not function properly. This can damage the blood vessels of the brain, heart, and kidneys, resulting in a stroke, heart failure, or kidney failure. High blood pressure may also increase the risk of heart attacks.
Aceon is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. It works by blocking ACE, an enzyme involved in narrowing blood vessels and causing sodium and fluid retention by the kidneys. This causes blood vessels to relax, allowing blood to flow more freely and at a lower pressure, and increasing the heart's ability to pump blood in some types of heart failure.
Do NOT use Aceon if:
- you are allergic to any ingredient in Aceon
- you are in the second or third trimester of pregnancy
- you have a history of giant hives or skin inflammation caused by ACE inhibitors
- you are taking or have taken dextran sulfate within the past 3 days
