Drug interactions:
Gabapentin Tablets is an anticonvulsant. Gabapentin is used to help control some types of seizures in the treatment of epilepsy. This medicine cannot cure epilepsy and will only work to control seizures for as long as you continue to take it. The exact way that it works to prevent seizures and nerve pain is unknown. Gabapentin is used with other drugs in the treatment of some types of seizures and for the management of postherpetic neuralgia (nerve pain caused by the herpes virus or shingles).
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement. Gabapentin has not been studied in pregnant women. However, studies in pregnant animals have shown that gabapentin may cause bone or kidney problems in offspring when given to the mother in doses larger than the largest human dose. Carry or wear a medical identification tag to let others know that you are taking this medicine in the case of an emergency.
