You’ve heard the liberal excuse about crime: poverty breeds crime.
Don’t believe it.
Our character determines the crime rate.
When I review crime statistics, I always flinch at what I see.
Crime is out of control, especially in black communities!
The media and liberal leaders refuse to talk about this because when we talk about it, we have to start talking about the reasons.
But it’s time to talk. We have abandoned our young black men -- who commit most of the violent crime -- and I can’t ignore it. We will never restore freedom in America if our young men choose a life of crime instead of becoming the head of their family.
It's time we admit that crime in African American communities is rooted in anger and fueled by dependency.
Friend, when only 30 percent of families are married, the absence of so many mothers and fathers cannot sustain a community. Then we have abandoned boys crammed into poor-performing schools with other boys with similar backgrounds, and the anger grows out of control. Drugs, sex, dropping out, theft and murder become a familiar way of life.
During these formative years, we must teach our children how to live responsible lives.
We can't bring back the absent parents, but there is a solution: our church leaders.
Blacks attend church more than any other ethnic group and we can reach communities with a message of freedom that hasn't been taught in nearly half a century!
